T Double L, New Zealand landscape inspired Designer Decor — The Company Today

Quality Products, Unique Designs, and Great Service!

T Double L is focused on producing New Zealand made Designer Décor with a modern yet natural feel. Products have been designed to sit harmoniously in a variety of places, from the simple bach to the commercial styled apartment building.

Our designs appeal to a broad range of customers by being mindful that we all share a love and passion for our gorgeous New Zealand landscapes and the natural beauty that it graciously displays.

It gives me great enjoyment to be able to do what I do, knowing that our New Zealand Pohutukawa flower could be on a Parisian style bed on the other side of the world, that's pretty cool!

Tina Lumsden
New Zealand Designer of Designer Décor

How it all began - Tina’s early years in fashion

New Zealand designer Tina Lumsden was born in 1976 and has lived in NZ all her life. Upon leaving school all her friends were off to Uni to pursue their career paths she was off to a sewing factory to begin hers!

After a couple of years of being a machinist where she worked on high fashion garments, Tina was off to gain her diploma in Fashion and Textiles. After achieving this, the dream had become real - working in the big smoke of Auckland in the high paced world of fashion.

For five years Tina worked her way up and loved every minute of it! Her role was to manage pattern making, production, design and business operations.

Starting her own company

The time had come to make a decision whether to continue working in a job she was devoted to, in a city she never called home, or start something new in a place where she truly loved. She chose the latter and is surrounded by her family and the gorgeous Northland landscape.

Tina’s inspiration to set up her own business was that she wanted a change from fashion yet still keep her hands in fabric and design, an area she had always been passionate.

Her influences were a book by Designers Guild. Tina was amazed by Tricia Guild’s colour, design and beautiful home wear collections. “That was it. I was hooked I knew exactly what I was going to do—Create modern quality designer décor with a New Zealand flavour!.”

Naming T Double L

T Double L was formed! The label is her name: Tina Louise Lumsden. With her first sale to her local store in October 2004 she has never looked back.

As for plans for the future, Tina just wants to continue producing top quality products that give enjoyment to her and her customers within their own homes or as gifts to friends and relatives that highlight the fact what a wonderful country we live in!

Design Inspiration — Pure New Zealand Landscape

TOITOI - Her first collection was inspired by the sense of emotion the Toitoi brings to her and others alike. Most kiwis have a fond memory of the Toitoi.

Being either playing with Toitoi as a child or blowing in the breeze as you cruised the coastline on an endless summer day. “I have tried to capture this and bring it into your own home".

FLAX - The flax collection is from images that all New Zealanders can identify with. It has particularly strong tie with Tina’s Maori heritage from Patuharakeke (a sub tribe of Ngapuhi). Patuharakeke means trampled flax.

Tina lives in this small community and has always been inspired by her natural surroundings. With modern colours this collection will bring the natural beauty of this beautiful plant indoors.

POHUTUKAWA - The Pohutukawa represents a very special time for every Kiwi - Christmas, family, long summer days and relaxing at the beach.

To be able to catch this short seasoned flower is like the short time that we treasure at that same time of the year. To put it on to a summer duvet I hope it captures this moment for you too.
